The difference between slide bearing and ball bearing

As an essential part of mechanical products, bearing plays an important role in supporting the rotating shaft. According to the different nature of friction in the bearing, the bearing is divided into ball friction bearing (referred to as ball bearing) and slide friction bearing (referred to as slide bearing). The two types of bearings have their own characteristics in structure and advantages and disadvantages in performance. When selecting them, comprehensive consideration should be given to the actual situation.

Brief introduction of slide bearing and ball bearing

Slide bearing refers to the bearing working under sliding friction, which is characterized by stable, reliable and noiseless operation. The slide bearing works stably and reliably without noise. In the case of liquid lubrication, the slide surface is separated by the lubricating oil without direct contact, which can greatly reduce the friction loss and surface wear, and the oil film also has a certain ability of vibration absorption. But the starting friction resistance is large. The part of the shaft supported by the bearing is called the journal, and the part matching the journal is called the bearing bush. In order to improve the friction property of the bearing surface, the antifriction material layer cast on the inner surface is called the bearing liner. The material of bearing bush and bearing liner is called slide bearing material.

Ball bearing refers to a kind of precise mechanical component which changes the sliding friction between the running shaft and the shaft seat into rolling friction to reduce the friction loss. Generally, ball bearing consists of inner ring, outer ring, rolling body and cage. The function of inner ring is to match with shaft and rotate with shaft. The function of outer ring is to match with bearing seat and support. Rolling body distributes rolling body evenly between inner ring and outer ring with the help of cage. Its shape, size and quantity directly affect the service performance and service life of ball bearing The cage can make the rolling body evenly distributed and guide the rolling body to rotate and lubricate.

Differences

1. Different structure

The ball bearing supports the rotating shaft according to the rotation of the rolling body. The contact part is a point. The more rolling body, the more contact points will be.

The slide bearing supports the rotating shaft according to the smooth surface, and the contact part is a surface.

2. Different sports

Rolling bearing is rolling motion mode, while sliding bearing is sliding motion mode. Therefore, the situation of friction is totally different.
